Lea Lane has been around the block — and around the world: to over 100 countries on all continents.

Podcast host of the award-winning podcast Places I Remember with Lea Lane, she’s an award-winning writer, a regular contributor to forbes.com, and has blogged at sites including Huffpost, Salon, The Daily Beast, CNN and cntraveler. She’s written for The New York Times and Miami Herald, was a columnist for Gannett Newspapers and managing editor of Travel Smart newsletter. .

Lea has written over a thousand travel pieces and columns, and contributed to Fodor’s guidebooks and Unofficial Guides. She’s authored eight books, including award-winners Solo Traveler,  Travel Tales I Couldn’t Put in the Guidebooks, and Places I Remember: Tales, Truths, Delights from 100 Countries.

For a dozen years, Lea was a panelist at The New York Times Travel Show, and she appeared regularly on The Travel Channel and as a correspondent on other broadcasting venues. Lea is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, and a board member of Funding Arts Network, in Miami.

To fill in a bit more beyond travel writing, Lea grew up in Miami Beach, earned  B.A and M.A. degrees, has been a high school and college teacher, and was president of her own writing and training company. As the author of Steps to Better Writing, she trained hundreds of Fortune 100 and government workers to communicate clearly.

Fun facts: Lea’s also been communications director of a tech company, an actress (“Nurse 1” in a low-budget indie), an off-Broadway associate producer, a (produced) musical playwright (off-off-off Broadway), and a counselor for foster children. And, she’s appeared on Jeopardy!

Lea lived in New York for many years, and once again resides in South Florida, along with her husband and calico cat.  Lea’s older son, Randall, is Chief Content Officer of Forbes Media, and Editor of Forbes.  Her younger son Cary is a college professor, artist, and museum curator. Her two granddaughters sometimes travel with her, as she explores new places to remember, and to share with you.
